History
Established in 1994, SD Islam Al Azhar 9 has grown into one of the leading modern Islamic schools in Bekasi City. Managed by Yayasan Waqaf Al Muhajirien Jaka Permai and supported by YPI Al Azhar, the school implements a multi-curriculum approach that integrates the Indonesian National Curriculum, the YPI Al Azhar Curriculum, and the Cambridge International Curriculum.
This comprehensive approach equips students with strong academic competence, Islamic values, digital literacy, and internationally recognized qualifications, in line with its vision of becoming a digitally based Islamic school with international standards of excellence.
1993 — Al Azhar 9 IES Officially Established
Al Azhar 9 IES Bekasi was officially established on July 18, 1993, with 55 students and operated in a shop-house building as its first campus.
1996 — Moving to a New School Building
The school moved into a new three-story building with improved facilities and larger capacity.
1999 — Construction of the Second Building
The school built a second building to support the growing need for classrooms and educational facilities.
2006 — School Achievement and Recognition
Al Azhar IES Bekasi achieved first place in education and school facilities.
2021 — Accredited “A” Excellence
Al Azhar 9 IES Bekasi once again achieved an “A” Accreditation, reflecting its consistent commitment to educational quality and school services.
2025 — Strategic Partnership with Cambridge
Yayasan Waqaf Al Muhajirien Jakapermai, which oversees Al Azhar schools in Jakapermai, Kemang Pratama, and Grand Wisata, officially partnered with Cambridge on June 16, 2025, to strengthen curriculum quality and international-standard education.
